Update Feb

February 18, 2009

Time for a bit of a update.

TinCan-House
Recently while I was in the roof I managed a snap of the F7N beam that was put in to take the load of the ceiling joists so that I could remove the wall. Romas and Donks and I spent a couple of hours a few weeks ago, and set all that up. Quite a easy task in the end. Made much easier because Rom has all awesome tools like gas powered (not air powered) nailguns and all crazy shit.

Over the weekend, Dave and PJ gave me a hand to load the bin (6 cubic meters) full of all the rubbish crap around the property. We collected a pile of metal to sell to the recycling place, and gutted the shed. (No more doors, ceiling, wall panels etc)

Please note the fullness of the bin. I was going to order a 4 cubic, but I figured a 6 wouldnt hurt. Needed a 10.

Been building a desk lately. (as could be seen from the post on page 10). It has now been completed. Its two 18mm sheets of MDF glued together and a pine strip placed along the front (with nice pocketed screws from the rear). The pine strip has been router to give a nice detailed finish, and it has been painted in semi-gloss black. I think it looks awesome.

And as you can tell by the last photo, the carpet is in. It feels comfy as. It was on the expensive side of carpet (170PM is about the cheapest you can get, this was 280PM) and because of that it is soft as all buggery.

Anyways. Last night Kylie and I spent our first night in the house. No bed base, just the mattress on the floor. Apart from not having any blinds, I had a great sleep.

Rack

February 11, 2009

So, nothing much new. Just a few little bits and pieces to show you guys. No new floorboards or walls missing or anything.

TinCan-House
The place now has skirting boards. It cleans the whole mess up alot. Unfortunatly Kylie and I cant sweep stuff down the gaps though. :-)

And the new door is in which looks baller if I do say so myself. Electronic door latch has been implemented and is ready to be hooked up (Wires hanging under house).

TinCan-House
New shelves have been installed in the cupboard. Kylie was all excited to start using them for storage. Oops, all used :-) Also, as you can see, all the architrave has been done.

Im currently in the process of building the study desk. Its 700mm Wide, 700mm high and will be painted semi-gloss black. Its full free standing wityh supports of the wall. The material is double thckness (glu-ing ATM) 18mm MDF. (Giving 36mm thick desk). It feels nice and chunky. Very supportive of three or four LCD’s.

Thanks to Kylies uncle (Andy) his mate donated a 42RU Hallam rack cabinet. It has a nice glass front and twin 10 amp power rails down the back. A quick coat of paint and some castors and she will be the business.

Anyway, thats all of the update for now. I’ll jump into bed.

Catch.
